Canadian Association of workers advisors and advocates
|
|
| |
Founded in 2000, the CAWAA identified the need to bridge a communication gap among
Provincial and Territorial Worker Advocate/Advisor programs. CAWAA is a national affiliation
created to develop a professional system of sharing information with the free exchange of
common interests and ideas.
The workers compensation system in Canada has seperate legislation and policies for each
Province or Territory. The majority of Canadian workers are covered in some form by Workers
Compensation when they are at work. The workforce is mobile and injuries or occupational
diseases may occur as a result of exposures or accidents in more than one Province or Territory.
To assist workers in navigating often complex adjudicative systems legislators have provided for
workers advisors/advocates in most Canadian jurisdictions. |
